Can you live in an RV or tiny home on your land in Alabama?

Alabama has county-level RV answers for 43 counties: 42 allow RV living, 1 limits it and 24 counties remain unanswered.6 Tiny-home answers cover 50 counties: 49 allow them, 1 limits them and 17 remain unanswered.7 Unanswered counties are not a permission or a prohibition.67

The counties allowing RV living include Monroe County, Butler County, Marengo County; the same counties allow tiny homes under their county-level answers.67 Compare the RV-living list and tiny-home list. Alabama separately defines a park model as temporary recreational, camping, travel or seasonal accommodation rather than a permanent dwelling; that rule does not resolve every ordinary motor-home or travel-trailer occupancy question.20 County land-use permission still leaves off-sewer sanitation subject to health-department approval.8 Ask the planning office to distinguish a wheeled unit, park model and foundation-built home for the parcel you are considering.
